The 2024 International Open

THE 2024 INTERNATIONAL OPEN COMES TO THE RENAISSANCE RESORT NOV. 18-26

ST. AUGUSTINE, Florida (September 18, 2024) – When International Open organizer Pat Fleming realized his tournament had outgrown its annual home in Norfolk, Virginia, he relied on the close bonds he formed with the hotel’s corporate staff to find a new space. They suggested the expansive World Golf Village Renaissance Resort in picturesque St. Augustine and it was a lock. The 2024 International Open will kick off Monday, November 18th, with contests continuing through Tuesday, November 26th, providing plenty of opportunities to witness professional play.

“This new location gives us double the space,” says International Open Tournament Organizer Pat Fleming. “We can go from 12 to 32 tables, including eight four-table miniature arenas where spectators can really get up close with the action. We’ve also expanded our playing options, adding the International 9-Ball Semi-Pro Open and the International Straight Pool Open. I’m expecting more players, an impressive level of play, and a lot of action for players and spectators to enjoy. There will even be trick shot demonstrations on Saturday and Sunday for elementary-aged children to introduce them to the sport. There’s something for everyone!”

Pat Fleming knows what he’s talking about when it comes to billiards. A Billiard Congress of America Hall of Famer, Fleming had a distinguished career in straight pool, but his groundbreaking moment came when he started his company, Accu-Stats Video Productions. Since the mid-1980s, Accu-Stats has filmed over 1,000 tournaments, documenting play for statistical analysis. His venture was so successful that Accu-Stats Total Performance Average became the gold standard for measuring pool performance. Pat Fleming is widely recognized as ‘the man behind the scenes of pool’s greatest videos.’ He took over management of the International Open in 2018, and it’s been growing ever since.

The 2024 International Open features the 9-Ball Open and Semi-Pro 9-Ball Open on Nov. 18-22; the Junior 9-Ball Championship, featuring the finest up-and-coming young players, on Nov. 20-22; the 10-Ball “Big Foot Challenge” Invitational on Nov. 23-24; and the Straight Pool Open, formerly known as Peter Burrow’s American 14.1 Straight Pool Championship, on Nov. 23-26. Player registration opened on August 14th, and already over 200 players from the United States, Singapore, Spain, Poland, Canada, Finland, Lithuania, and beyond have signed up to compete. Included on that roster are last year’s International 9-Ball Open Champion Aloysius Yapp and Semi-Finalists David Alcaide and Wiktor Zielinski. Players compete for World Ranking points and cash prizes up to $40,000. Spectators can enjoy the excitement from three levels of reserved arena seating, beginning at $30. General admission starts at $25. Full-day and multi-day packages are available here. Photos found here.
